Yuletide Letter 2017
Oct. 8th, 2017 02:46 pmI can't believe I'm doing another one of these.
General stuff: I don't care if you don't include all requested characters. I don't care if you include unrequested characters. I don't care if you declare my optional details to be optional, but be aware you're running a risk of not getting a fawning comment. But I'm probably not going to give a super long and fawning comment anyway.
Stuff I like: I like the canons I requested. I like things dark and fucked up, or sometimes light and fluffy. I like gen worldbuilding and I like noncon. I really like incorporating lots of extra canon details and allusions to other parts of the franchise (if there is one). I like a lot of things.
Stuff I don't: M/f noncon, setting-divergence AUs (so no coffeeshops), random crossovers.
The prompts are in my requests. If you found your way here, that means you already read them and don't need to read them again.
Canon Review: the entire reason I wrote this.
All of these should be buyable, emulatable, or piratable. Psychic Force is probably the hardest to buy, since it's old and super out of print. Ar tonelico and Giant Robo might be a problem too. Everything else got a rerelease on a more modern platform.
But you don't want to buy something new. You just want a quick review. Let me help.
Psychic Force: Complete overview post with links to all story videos
Suikoden I: The White Dragon's LP
Thanatos Mazus's LP
Giant Robo: Well sadly Nyaa and BakaBT are gone so we can never recover them again... *coughcough*look here*coughcough* If you do somehow find links, you want GIANT ROBO [EG], which is the gorgeously-encoded BluRay rips. If I condoned anime piracy.
As an extra, here's laserdisk linear notes, with lots of extra details about the characters and setting. and extra info that's literally friend-of-a-friend, so take or leave it as you will.
Ar tonelico: Very through LP
Final Fantasy V: Just grab a copy of Visual Boy Advance or something. Don't play the Steam or mobile version, it looks awful. All the LPs are pretty focused on the gameplay, but try Orange Fluffy Sheep's anyway.
Castlevania: Lament of Innocence: All cutscenes put together. Enjoy the dubbing! There are LPs on Youtube, but none I liked.
